Business broadband rolled out to 8,800 premises in Wiltshire


A further 8,800 premises in Wiltshire have been connected to faster broadband links, telecommunications firm BT has announced. Buildings in Hawthorn, Wilton and Downton have been linked to the technology, Wiltshire Business noted, before adding they will now receive speeds of up to 20 Mbps. Homes and companies are among those to benefit from the roll-out, which has already seen 20 other communities boosted with the same infrastructure.

Oxfordshire village chosen for fibre broadband pilot


Residents of a village in rural Oxfordshire will be the guinea pigs when it comes to trying out some of the UK's latest broadband technology that, if successful, could eventually be rolled out across the country. BT has confirmed that Deddington will be the setting for its next pilot scheme, which will see it become the nation's first fibre-only community. Experts will watch the project with interest, as its success could shape the future for millions.

Superfast broadband coming to Lincolnshire


The latest internet technology is to be rolled out in three parts of Lincolnshire as the local authority undertakes a pilot project that could result in much of the county enjoying superfast broadband. Lincolnshire County Council has been granted £300,000 of European money to test the service in the Wolds, Fens and the coast area. The council's David O'Connor told the BBC there is currently "very low coverage" in some parts, such as Ingoldmelds, so rolling out the best business broadband is a must.

Microsoft accreditation for snom 370 phone


A unified communications (UC) tool on offer from leading manufacturer snom has become the latest device to successfully pass the stringent test set out by Microsoft. The snom 370 UC phone has been named as a recipient of Qualified for Microsoft Lync status, meaning it is compatible with the firm's messaging server. It is the third device from snom's internet protocol (IP) telephony range to have been accredited by Microsoft and emphasises its standing in the sector.
