US search engine firm switches to VoIP solutions


US search engine firm Rofo Group has upgraded its telephone system to VoIP services, it has been revealed. Hosted VoIP solutions provider MegaPath has installed the new communications network throughout Rofo Group's offices. The search engine company also took advantage of MegaPath's free phone offer, which gave new subscribers to its unlimited or global hosted services free Cisco SPA 303G handsets.

New microSD card could boost security of mobile VoIP solutions


A new microSD card has been launched which could help boost the security of mobile VoIP services. Telecommunications security firm Sectra has released the Panthon card which can help prevent unauthorised users eavesdropping on calls. Designed particularly for politicians and government officials, customers simply place the card in their mobile phone and hackers will be unable to tap into their VoIP calls.

London commuters to access underground VoIP services?


London Underground (LU) passengers could soon be able to access VoIP services, it has been revealed. BT Openzone, a division of the telecoms giant, has teamed up with LU to launch a six-month trial of Wi-Fi access at Charing Cross station. From 1st November, consumers will be able to use their laptops, mobile phones and other wireless devices to connect to a wireless network while underground.

Training can 'unlock' potential of VoIP services


Employees should be trained how to use VoIP services in order to unlock the potential of the technology, it has been claimed. Consultancy firm Bain & Company is currently upgrading its telephone network to allow its 5,000 workers to benefit from VoIP solutions, reports The Financial Times. In order to ensure its staff understand how to operate the new system, Bain is offering face-to-face and online training sessions.
