Reduced prices drives demand for mobile broadband


Businesses and consumers in western Europe will increasingly turn to mobile broadband technology as they strive to take advantage of flexible, low-priced connections, according to a new study. Research by Telecompaper suggests that the amount of mobile broadband units - encompassing PC cards, ExpressCards, USB and internal cellular modems - shipped across the region in 2012 will surge to 17 million. This represents a compound annual growth rate of 32 per cent on last year's figure, which stood at 4.

Firms benefit from 'strategic' IT outsourcing


Businesses can deliver an improved financial performance by outsourcing IT infrastructure in a 'strategic' fashion, according to a new study. Broadband users turn to online TV


Nearly half of all people have watched video clips or TV on the internet, according to a new survey. Research conducted by YouGov on behalf of Redback Networks found that 48 per cent of respondents streamed or downloaded online content in the past. A further 22 per cent of those polled had watched video on the internet during the past week.
