Use of VoIP solutions 'is increasing'


A growing number of firms are ditching traditional phone lines in favour of using the latest voice over internet protocol (VoIP) solutions, if a new report is to be believed. The survey, conducted by US-based news, reviews and blog site WhichVoIP, found that the number of calls being made via the technology is on the rise. In total, it noted that 75 per cent of all international communications are hosted by VoIP solutions rather than more traditional infrastructure.

Businesses in the East Sussex city of Brighton and Hove may soon be in a position to justify investment in voice over internet protocol (VoIP) solutions. The technology, which runs at its very best on superfast broadband platforms, offers the potential to make efficient, affordable and high-quality calls to associates. Campaigners are now urging the government to implement a raft of improvements to the internet infrastructure on the south coast, reported the Argus.

Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man, could inspire people and businesses to invest in superfast broadband that supports the latest technology, such as voice over internet protocol (VoIP) solutions. The Jamaican sprinter has been confirmed as the new face of Virgin Media and he has dressed up as the brand's founder Sir Richard Branson for a multi-million pound advertising campaign. Commercials featuring the athlete will air for the first time tomorrow (January 14th) during Take Me Out on ITV1, reported the Guardian.

Mobile VoIP solutions users could benefit from 4G licences sale


Businesspeople who use mobile voice over internet protocol (VoIP) solutions and other telecommunications equipment may be boosted by an imminent sale of licences. Ofcom has revealed it is to put 4G licences – that provide the internet connection on which web-based products can be run over mobile and tablet devices – up for auction. Operators that manage to acquire the licences will be in a position to offer consumers the technology to stream and download in almost any locations across the UK.

Jersey businesses could benefit from improved mobile VoIP solutions platform


Mobile voice over internet protocol (VoIP) solutions could become a hit in Jersey once the island's broadband infrastructure is overhauled. Speeds of 42 Mbps are due to be available to handset users on the island from April, after the government-owned JT Global confirmed it is to launch an upgrade. Head of mobile Dave Newbold has told the BBC of the details of the scheme, which will include spending £500,000 on development of infrastructure.
