Firms in rural Suffolk to enjoy improved internet


Better broadband is coming to some of the most cut-off parts of Suffolk as a scheme to improve internet connections in rural locations takes hold. Suffolk County Council has been quoted by the BBC as stating broadband will be rolled out in premises that still rely on dial-up connections by this September. As a county, the average speed of web connections is just 5 Mbps, with some people being forced to cope with links that are just 60 kbps.

Superfast broadband is a "tremendous opportunity" for Britain


British companies have been told they have a "tremendous opportunity" ahead of them in the form of superfast broadband. A spokesman for the Internet Services Providers' Association has suggested the latest developments in the sector pave the way for an exciting future - and one in which business broadband users will be able to benefit significantly as a result of the advances in the web.

BT makes even faster broadband at no extra cost to consumers


BT has revealed one of its signature broadband products - BT Infinity - is to run even faster than previously and at no additional cost to users. From today (April 12th), anybody signing up to BT Infinity 2 will be able to enjoy rates of up to 76 Mbps, exactly twice the speed existing customers are accustomed to. Uploading will also be extremely fast via the updated service, with speeds of as much as 19 Mbps expected.

Business broadband will aid growth, say firms


Companies at an industrial estate in Derbyshire have told of the benefits they are expecting to enjoy as a result of superfast business broadband being installed. A group of firms at Heanor Gate discovered last year they would be missing out on the roll-out of the latest technology, with the Ilkeston Advertiser reporting they decided to get the job done themselves. Nearby Ripley and Alfreton are included in BT's £2.
