VoIP 'must be taken seriously by small business owners'Posted 10 months 1 week ago in: General VoIP ![]() Telappliant News: 2012-07-13 Rate this article: Small business owners are likely to be keen to find areas in which they can gain a competitive advantage over their rivals. After all, a slightly stronger position than a counterpart could prove to be the difference between running a successful company and fighting for survival. There are many ways bosses can think about when it comes to doing the best for their firm, whether this means making cutbacks or splashing out on new hi-tech investments. Graeme Gherbaz, writing for Dynamic Business, has spoken of the benefits of selecting VoIP as that investment. Indeed, he noted it is a solution that must now be "taken seriously" by those who run small businesses. The author suggested VoIP is a tool that can be utilised by organisations to aid their development and growth. Perhaps the best news of all is that it is a reliable - rather than risky - option when attempting to do this. Mr Gherbaz explained that effective communication is one of the keys to success in business - no matter what their size, experience or industry. As such, investing in the very best in this area is a good idea - and right now, that means opting for VoIP rather than traditional telephony solutions. VoIP is said to "bring together old and new technologies" to come up with an offering that is extremely powerful and cost-effective. It works equally well for individuals and larger companies. While it may not have the glamour of social media or smartphones, it is just as effective and is a highly efficient and professional way for businesspeople to stay in touch. If they are making calls from an office they will be cheap and if they want to use mobile VoIP they will find it is highly practical. Quite simply, every day without VoIP might be a missed opportunity for small businesses.

We were worried about reliability, but so far all has been smooth sailing. We are saving money, and the system we got came with free desk phones, so there was minimal upfront cost to switch. We also got a rudimentary CRM built-in with our system (called ringbyname) -- I guess that's the beauty of IP. Remains to be seen how much we use the CRM, but it is a nice value-add.
