VoIP is a technology that many companies across a huge variety of sectors are sure to be keen on implementing.

After all, it is renowned for triggering a host of benefits, from its ability to lower costs to the potential for greater efficiency and high levels of reliability. It is no wonder that VoIP is proving so popular.

But it must still be factored that the UK and many other nations are going through a difficult financial period, looming between recession and spells of insignificant growth. As such, many firms might not have a vast amount of cash to spend on improving their solutions and infrastructure.

A new report by TechNavio, released by Research and Markets, shows the VoIP sector can expect healthy levels of growth over the coming years. Indeed, between 2011 and 2015, it is expected to record a compound annual growth rate of 7.1 per cent.

It is said that one of the key factors behind this likely trend is the low cost of modern communication services. While issues such as deployment and usability complexity could potentially pose a challenge, the increasing affordability of solutions should be the overriding factor.

TechNavio's report covers the Americas, the Asia-Pacific region and Europe, the Middle East and Africa, so a truly global feel of the telecommunications market has been achieved. As well as looking at statistics, the group called upon the opinions of experts within the industry before forming its conclusions.

A recent report by Visiongain noted the mobile VoIP market should be worth $2.5 billion (£1.6 billion) by the end of this year, proving it is not only permanent installations in offices and homes that are fuelling growth. Increasingly, people are demanding access to VoIP and all of its benefits while they are on the road or in a remote location.
