Mobile VoIP market 'set for rapid growth'

The ability to work on the move is one that has captured the imaginations of those in modern business, with many firms ensuring their employees have the necessary tools to continue with their work while on the train, in a coffee shop or at home.

It is easy to see why. After all, no firm wants to pay its staff when they are not producing anything of value. But nor do they want to be completely out of touch with their workers and unable to communicate with them should they need to.

With this in mind, it is perhaps no surprise that mobile VoIP is a technology that has become a huge hit in recent times. The solution means businesses and their staff can run cheap and reliable calls over the internet through their handsets, giving them an affordable option for staying in touch with each other or making overseas calls at a fraction of the cost of traditional telephony equipment.

Growth in this area is now predicted to rise dramatically. Indeed, Reportstack has revealed a brand new study that shows the global mobile VoIP solutions market is likely to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 64.6 per cent between 2011 and 2015. An analyst from TechNavio said there are several factors behind this.

For instance, low entry costs and "huge" business opportunities are both cited as reasons for the growing demand for mobile VoIP.

As many organisations run calls on an almost continual basis, there is a huge demand at the moment for low-cost communications. This has led many to VoIP and its mobile adaptation is an excellent option as it is seen as a "comparatively low investment" in comparison to some of its rivals.

Telappliant's business sales manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Tom Dobson recently voice his backing for the mobile trend, noting that many firms want devices that can combine the specifications of a tablet, laptop and mobile phone.
