A unified communications (UC) tool on offer from leading manufacturer snom has become the latest device to successfully pass the stringent test set out by Microsoft. The snom 370 UC phone has been named as a recipient of Qualified for Microsoft Lync status, meaning it is compatible with the firm's messaging server.

It is the third device from snom's internet protocol (IP) telephony range to have been accredited by Microsoft and emphasises its standing in the sector. In recent times, snom has rolled out a number of high-quality phones that are designed to work with both Microsoft technology and that on offer in standard SIP-based IP PBX settings.

Telappliant offers a range of Lync handsets, of which the snom 370 is just one.

There are many benefits to investing in the 370, such as the large graphical display it boasts on its front. There are also 12 programmable function keys and a separate browser on which all XML applications are run.

"All of our Qualified for Lync devices have been fully approved and tested by Microsoft with a number of other devices scheduled to complete the qualification process very soon," explained Dr Michael Knieling, chief operating officer at snom.

He added the phone has full IP compatibility, so consumers can be sure that any snom model they purchase will work in the online environment.

Its settings and features make it the perfect IP telephony solution for companies that need instant access to all their information. Thanks to the high-definition screen, the 370 is able to display all call lists, address books and caller information to the user.

But the phone is not all about its screen, as it also offers options such as quick dialling.

With snom showing a determination to expand its range of IP telephones and Microsoft seemingly keen to accredit them, the manufacturer might be the only choice for companies in the UK looking to overhaul their communications infrastructure.
