Such is the quality of voice over internet protocol (VoIP) solutions on the market today, making use of them is similar to enjoying the very best that high-end telephones can offer.

That is the view of Tan Aksoy, chief executive officer at Telappliant, who has written a piece for SMEWeb in which he explores the numerous and significant benefits of investing in the technology.

He started by noting that everybody is still aware of the difficult financial times the country is facing at the moment and how any solutions that are able to help firms save money will be particularly appealing.

The good news for consumers is that this is exactly what VoIP can do. Unfortunately, many businesses still find themselves tied in to deals with traditional telephony providers, but those who do not are switching to VoIP en masse.

According to the expert, predictions have been made that suggest VoIP is set to become so great it will be responsible for 90 per cent of all calls around the world within ten years.

But what exactly are the advantages of running VoIP, away from the inevitable cost reduction? Martyn Davies, telecom consultant at Weird Crater, recently said there is a wide-ranging group of advantages waiting for VoIP users and this is an assessment Mr Aksoy seemingly agrees with.

He said the primary plus point is the quality of the calls people can become accustomed to when running VoIP. Gone are the days of crackling lines and difficulties hearing the person at the other end of the line.

Indeed, Mr Aksoy suggested using a VoIP service is very much like accessing the most high-end phone systems it is possible to find in the modern market.

VoIP is also scalable and has the potential to be used from remote locations, making it the perfect business tool.
