The village of Marton is set to benefit from new fibre optic business broadband - an infrastructure improvement that is expected to transform the prospects of the isolated rural community.

The first fibre-optic business broadband switching cabinets will be installed in March of this year and town officials, businesses and residents are looking forward to benefiting from high-speed internet connections.

IT expert Michael Koch, who led the bid for high-speed business broadband in Marton, told the Kenilworth Weekly News: "It's going to make a big difference. I sometimes think people don't realise what kind of scale this will be. It will go from the ridiculous to the sublime."

Businesses will benefit from between 40Mb and 100Mb connections, with one of the only limiting factors being the speed of a person's Wi-Fi router.

Fibre optic business broadband is spreading throughout the UK and has been championed by a number of internet service providers - including Virgin Media and BT.
