Firms in parts of Lincolnshire have been assured superfast business broadband connections are no more than five years away.

The government has accepted a plan by the county council to roll out the latest internet technology to all of the homes and companies in Sleaford, the Sleaford Target reported.

At least 90 per cent of all premises will have access to a minimum speed of 24 Megabits per second by 2015, while 2 Megabits per second will be guaranteed to everybody else.

Two years later, in 2017, every building in the county will be able to enjoy superfast broadband.

"Improved broadband is vital for business growth, for all residents accessing services, including the growing number of silver surfers, and for young people looking to download learning materials," stated councillor Kelly Smith.

Consumer Focus Scotland has recently revealed that the broadband on offer to businesses in Scotland will be five times faster by 2015.
