The residents and firms of Bracknell are to be boosted by an imminent upgrade to business broadband connections, it has been confirmed.

Ofcom has outlined plans to improve internet services to the vast majority of the UK – including much of the Berkshire town, Get Bracknell reported.

Indeed, some 98 per cent of its population should be in a position to benefit from the project.

Dr Phillip Lee, MP for Bracknell, said the move is vital, with ten per cent of the world's information technology companies located in the Thames Valley.

The politician suggested the approved upgrade will "transform the fortunes of thousands of small and medium-sized businesses, currently hamstrung by inadequate mobile phone and internet coverage".

It was revealed last week by the North Wales Weekly News that Llanrwst has become the latest community in the region to enjoy a business broadband improvement thanks to the installation of hi-tech copper lines.
