A village in Yorkshire will see better business broadband being made available as a result of the rollout of new technology.

Rosedale is being granted £130,000 in funding by Ryedale District Council and the government to ensure people can access high-speed internet services.

The superfast rates will be provided to local residents and enterprises through a £17 million government-backed scheme in the county, with services transmitted wirelessly from an existing project.

Anne McIntosh, MP for Thrisk and Malton, stated: "High-speed broadband will be extremely valuable to rural businesses, including farms, holiday cottages and B&Bs, who are all dependent on the internet to run their business."

Called the Rosedale Extension, the initiative is the latest part of the Connecting North Yorkshire project and will use nearby Farndale to deliver superfast broadband to the village.

In another rural location, a project is happening on the Holkham Estate in Norfolk that the Eastern Daily Press reports will upgrade the internet infrastructure around a collection of Victorian buildings, in order to improve the business broadband connection.
