Companies located in the more rural parts of Northern Ireland will soon receive a welcome boost when it comes to business broadband.

Firms in Dungannon District often receive poor and unreliable connections to the web, but this will soon change, reported the Tyrone Times.

That is because both residential and commercial properties affected by the problem will be eligible to apply for a government-backed subsidy to install satellite broadband coverage.

"Our new technology is able to ensure that all consumers in Northern Ireland can avail of high-speed broadband, anywhere, no matter their location," explained Dominic Cairns, regional director for broadband provider Onwave.

The government offer came after a campaign by councillor Anthony McGonnell of the Social Democratic and Labour Party to help firms enjoy better broadband.

South Cambridgeshire District Council is another local authority getting behind a broadband scheme in recent times, as the Haverhill Echo told how it is hoping to help businesses prosper.
