Norfolk could be one part of the UK that will soon be in a position to offer companies the best possible chance of running internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions at their very best.

That is because the county's broadband infrastructure is set for a makeover as part of a £30 million scheme in the region.

Norfolk County Council has revealed its Say Yes campaign will be launched tomorrow (January 11th), with its aim to encourage as many people and businesses to register their support for the rollout of new technology.

This would enable it to bring a private sector partner on board to carry out the work.

The council has been granted £15 million by the government after matching the figure from its own funds.

Once any upgrade to broadband infrastructure is completed, IP telephony solutions users could experience an upturn in the performance of their equipment.

It was recently announced that BT is to invest in the Cotswolds, with 52,000 premises in the area to receive upgraded broadband connections in the coming months, reported the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard.
