More businesses set for IP telephony solutions?

An increasing number of companies around the world could be in a position to invest in internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions over the coming years.

New figures from IHS iSuppli show there will be a significant spike in demand for broadband between 2011 and 2015.

Indeed, it predicted the number of subscribers to hi-tech internet services will increase by 60 per cent during this time.

Lee Ratliff, senior analyst for broadband and digital home at the research body, said: "Global broadband subscriber activity serves as a long-term barometer of the overall health of the broadband industry, as well as an accurate prognosticator of prospects for the space's associated markets in broadband equipment."

A growing number of broadband users could translate into a higher take-up of top-quality telecommunications equipment – such as IP telephony solutions – that run at their most efficient on high-speed platforms.

The Country Land and Business Association recently said growth of the broadband sector in the UK is being restricted by a lack of investment in the countryside.
