The importance of business broadband has been summed up by one industry chief, who said poor connections can hold firms back in their bids to succeed and grow.

Mark Froud, chief executive of Sussex Enterprise, said 2011 was a difficult year for organisations in the county as the UK battled the "economic hangover from hell", reported the Mid Sussex Times.

While the figurehead is happy with how firms in the region have dealt with the problems, he believes there are ways they can be helped – starting with improved internet links.

"The key issues holding businesses back remain [include] the slow speed of broadband in many parts of Sussex," Mr Froud stated.

High-speed broadband is currently being rolled out in many parts of the country by BT.

For example, the BBC recently revealed the telecommunications provider is to invest in a total of 33 communities around Wales in a bid to improve speeds.
