Campaigner: Everybody is entitled to fast business broadband

A campaigner who has protested for some time in the hope of seeing faster business broadband links installed in east Yorkshire has declared every firm in the country should have access to high-speed internet.

John Popham, an IT and social media expert, told the Hull Daily Mail that news BT will upgrade the region's connections to 20 Mbps is a positive step.

However, he suggested that by the time the work is completed in the summer, businesses and residents will be pushing for faster rates.

"I believe passionately in the power of the internet to transform people's lives for the better and I want to make sure those who live in remote communities don't miss out," Mr Popham stated.

Brian McCrow, who led the campaign for faster broadband in the town of Innerleithen in the Scottish Borders, recently told the Press Association that quicker links can boost trade in a particular area.
