Infrastructure upgrade could help IP telephony solutions investment pay off

Firms in the West Country that invest in internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions may find their purchase pays off faster than they first expected it to.

That is because a significant upgrade of broadband infrastructure in the area is scheduled to take place.

The Plymouth Herald has told how more than 6,000 premises – including businesses and residential properties – are to benefit from the rollout by BT.

It is just one of 43 destinations in Devon and the rest of the south-west that is set to enjoy new communications technology and links.

Jeremy Filmer-Bennett, chief executive of Devon and Cornwall Business Council, said: "Faster broadband is going to play a key role in the future success of the region. Broadband is a vital part of the essential infrastructure of the south-west."

BT has also recently confirmed that 47 locations in Scotland will be given a boost by the rollout of new broadband technology.
