BT installs super-fast business broadband connections in Stamford

Stamford and the surrounding area is soon to benefit from the installation of new business broadband links carried out by BT.

According to the Rutland and Stamford Mercury, the telecommunications firm has started work on adding fibre-optic cables in the region, which will trigger a significant rise in online speeds.

Some 11,000 homes and businesses are set to take advantage of the new technology that is said to provide the infrastructure for speeds of up to 100Mbps.

Currently, firms in Stamford and other nearby locations have access to no link that is faster than 40Mbps, the newspaper noted.

Commenting on the scheme and how it will affect people and businesses, BT's regional partnership director Paul Bimson said: "It will transform their experience of the internet. They're joining the more than five million UK premises now served by what we believe to be the world's fastest growing fibre network."

It was recently announced that BT Infinity 3 is to be available in the UK, offering speeds of 100Mbps.
