BT has revealed its financial results for the quarter of the year ending in September 2011.

The company revealed that business broadband roll-outs have enabled it to record increased cash flow, profits and underlying revenue over the course of the three months.

Chief executive of BT Ian Livingston added that positive operational performances have also enabled the firm to have experienced a successful quarter.

He said: "We expect to continue to offset the economic headwinds through improved customer service and processes, better efficiency and investment in the future of the business."

Mr Livingston also noted BT's fibre roll-out programme will be completed in two-thirds of the UK by 2014.

These financial results come shortly after the business broadband provider revealed that it is set to create more than 500 new jobs in a bid to speed up the installation of fibre-optic broadband.

Jeremy Hunt, culture, Olympics, media and sport minister, stated that it is essential homes and businesses have access to superfast broadband as soon as possible.
