Mobile VoIP solutions have been predicted to generate annual revenues of $36 billion (£22.6 billion) by 2016, as a result of increasing demand from consumers.

Visiongain stated that this is set to be driven by more than 180 million users located all over the world.

The growth of smartphones is expected to be one of the major driving forces behind the rise of mobile VoIP over the course of the next few years.

Consumers are increasingly demanding cost effective communication services, so mobile VoIP is likely to see an explosion of growth in the next decade or so.

"There has been a steady increase in the number of successful partnerships between VoIP vendors and mobile operators to deploy mobile VoIP services," noted a statement by Visiongain.

A report has been produced by the organisation looking into the future of the industry, with key geographical regions, supporting technologies and product portfolio all examined by specialists in the document.

The company is also offering tips on how to monetise the mobile VoIP sector in emerging economies all over the globe.

This comes shortly after Research and Markets suggested that the potential for VoIP solutions is vast, with the technology beginning to make a move into India, where demand is set to be huge.

It was reported by TechZone360 that the low cost of calls using VoIP is going to be one of the major factors behind its growth on the subcontinent over the course of the next few years.

According to Research and Markets, there will be 70 million users of VoIP solutions in India alone, which could suggest the estimate made by Visiongain proves to be wide of the mark.

It was added by the group that this speedy expansion could be replicated in other parts of the world in the next decade or so.
