Firms 'enjoy fastest business broadband of all time'

Firms in Yorkshire are enjoying the benefits of the fastest business broadband of all time, thanks to the roll-out of BT's next generation services in Starbeck.

With internet speeds of up to 20 megabits per second delivered to homes and businesses in the area via copper pipes, users are now able to enjoy more than double the maximum speeds previously available, the Ripon Gazette reports.

BT is hoping the initiative will help make firms increasingly competitive and around 80 per cent of consumers and businesses in the area will be in possession of the service by Spring 2012.

BBC Scotland recently reported some 4,000 companies and homes in Kelso, on the Scottish borders, now have access to faster internet connections thanks to BT's roll-out of next generation internet, allowing them to take advantage of speeds of up 20 megabits per second.

The nearby town of Keebles has also been earmarked for an upgrade over the course of the coming months.
