VoIP solutions work better on "true hosted" platforms

Companies using the newest VoIP solutions in order to raise efficiency within their operations must look towards a "true hosted" platform, in the opinion of one expert.

Deputy chairman of the Federation of Communication Services Dave Dadds said this is the only option if the full potential of the technology is to be unlocked.

He noted that alternatives will always involve a lot of "hand cranking" to ensure the solutions continue to run smoothly.

"So really, the fact of whether it's sitting in a service provider's data centre or your own office doesn't really make that much difference to the fundamental issue of tenanted or one-to-one hosting," Mr Dadds stated.

He said the latter will mean people miss out on the advantages of using "true hosted" platforms.

Getting VoIP right may be crucial in any location, but especially the US where a Frost and Sullivan study recently found the market to be worth $2 billion (£1.25 billion).
