Business leaders plotting an investment in the latest VoIP solutions have been advised to steer clear of those that work on a one-to-one basis.

Dave Dadds, deputy chairman of the Federation of Communication Services, explained that moving away from this will trigger numerous advantages.

He noted that these include the idea of being able to enjoy the leverage VoIP provides.

"If you're on a one-to-one relationship, you've still potentially got a box that you've got to pay maintenance for, you've got to pay capital expenditure - you don't leverage all the benefits," the expert stated.

In such situations, the information stored by a company will be kept within a large pool of data – something that should be advantageous, but may not be when using a managed host.

Last week, Mr Dadds suggested that VoIP solutions are not particularly suited to one sector and will work equally well in any type of business.
