Companies that are considering the implementation of VoIP solutions have been advised to ensure they have the right type of core system in place to get the best out of the technology.

Dave Dadds, deputy chairman of the Federation of Communication Services, said the set-up already in use can affect the way VoIP works.

Some solutions will inevitably be more adept at getting the most from the internet-based telecommunications products.

"There are some service provider systems that deal with the small end of the market but potentially don't really have much to deliver to the bigger end of the market," Mr Dadds explained.

He went on to suggest that this factor is a "slight variable" that business leaders must watch out for if they are to enjoy successful VoIP adoption.

Juniper Research recently predicted that mobile-based VoIP solutions will become increasingly popular with business users in the UK over the years to come.
