BT's planned roll-out of fibre-optic broadband internet across the UK will illustrate the significance of VoIP solutions in the future.

Dave Dadds, deputy chairman of the Federation of Communication Services, has explained how the implementation of top-quality web connections will show just how the country is changing.

He said the move is "undoubtedly good" for the industry, as it provides businesses and individuals with more bandwidth and increased reliability.

"So it reinforces the message – not that people necessarily need it – the world is going IP. It's certainly not a negative," Mr Dadds stated.

Once fibre-optic broadband is in place, the effectiveness of VoIP solutions is likely to rise even further.

Infonetics Research recently predicted that a steep increase in the number of VoIP solutions users around the world is due to take place over the coming years.

It suggested the number will grow from 47 million in 2010 to 410 million by 2015.
