Londonderry 'boasts Britain's fastest business broadband'

The fastest business broadband on offer in the UK can be found in the Northern Irish destination of Londonderry.

That is the view of BT, which has recently undertaken a huge upgrade of the city's infrastructure and cables.

Since announcing plans for the improvement in January, BT has teamed up with the Culture Company to deliver an overhaul of technology.

Londonderry is now home to a telehouse where £27 million worth of fibre optic technology is placed to link the US to Europe.

The city should benefit greatly from this and experts believe it will help it to become a super-fast location.

"It is crucially important that businesses here have every advantage and aid they can get and having the high-speed broadband connectivity that BT has given us will be a fantastic boost," said Martin Bradley, chairman of the Culture Company 2013.

The Flintshire Chronicle recently revealed that the town of Saltney in Wales now boasts the country's fastest business broadband after a BT upgrade in nearby Chester.
