Welsh town 'to enjoy super-fast business broadband'

Super-fast business broadband is set to be available to companies working in a Welsh town, after upgrades were made to local infrastructure.

BT Openreach is currently in the final stages of a project at the Chester South exchange that will trigger improvements in communications in the local area.

One result will be that Saltney should become Wales's fastest business broadband location, according to the Flintshire Chronicle.

It will immediately make connections 40 times faster, with the promise of a further upgrade to come next year.

To put speeds into perspective, the newspaper noted that a film that takes 12 hours to download via a standard connection can now be acquired in just ten minutes in Saltney.

Speaking earlier this month, Ann Benyon, regional director for Wales at BT, said: "[This] is a significant step in the UK's broadband journey and it is great to see Saltney playing a leading role in the development of this exciting technology."

Openreach recently confirmed it will launch a 300Mbps business broadband service in the UK next year.
