Working from home – perhaps with VoIP hardware – is becoming a more popular option among Britons, whether it is for an existing employer or in order to start up a new business.

Indeed, Infonetics Research recently predicted that the residential sector will make up a significant portion of growth in the VoIP market.

It suggested that there is likely to be a 17 per cent expansion in the sector in 2011 and it will grow to a value of $76 billion (£49.4 billion) by 2015.

Now, Ashton Mills, writing for Australian Personal Computer online magazine, has spoken of his vision of the perfect home office.

He noted that VoIP hardware would have a role to play within the communications provision, describing it as a "cheap" option for those who need to be linked to others.

In particular, it can be great value for money if a connection is included as part of a business broadband package for the home.
