VoIP solutions 'are the future of telecommunications in UAE'

VoIP solutions are due to make a significant impact in the United Arab Emirates, as the country realises the technology is the future of the communications market.

As revenue from traditional phone calls declines, two operators have announced they are to launch services that operate in a similar way to Skype, the National reported.

Etisalat is the first network to confirm its intentions to move towards VoIP solutions – and it will even create an app so that mobile users do not miss out on the system.

Elsewhere, Osman Sultan, the chief executive of the rival telecommunications firm du, revealed his business is also looking at new ways to integrate VoIP solutions.

And VoIP may not be the only telecommunications device the company has planned, as the figurehead suggested it may bundle several technologies together.

Susan Campbell, writing for TMCnet, recently said that installing unified communications - including VoIP solutions - can be tricky but is worth it in the long run.
