VoIP hardware users 'must overcome small obstacles to enjoy large benefits'

The benefits of using VoIP hardware are well known in the business community, with reductions in cost and increases in efficiency among the most common and significant.

Indeed, Trefor Davies, council member for the Internet Telephony Service Providers' Association, recently told how firms that use such technology can slash their communications costs by 50 per cent.

He went on to note that VoIP hardware can be particularly effective for those with offices overseas, as free or cheap calls can be made.

Now, Susan Campbell, writing for TMCnet, has had her say on the system, suggesting there are a number of small obstacles to overcome before the major benefits can be enjoyed.

She said taking action to prevent jitter – the distortion that is created by deviating signals – and latency is a wise move.

"While these challenges are real, business VoIP can still deliver benefits to the enterprise and the small business," Ms Campbell stated.
