Businesses urged to be flexible with mobile working

Businesses have been called on to become more flexible in regard to mobile working.

David Akka, managing director UK, Eire and Nordic at Magic Software Enterprises, recently claimed that the rise of new technologies will have a "significant impact" on the way companies operate.

He suggested that one particular challenge for IT departments will be how to incorporate products such as smartphones and tablets into their wider systems.

Mr Akka went on to note that security can also pose a problem when employees are working remotely and claimed that the answer may potentially lie in policy decisions.

"You need to decide what policies your enterprise will allow and support, and to find the tools in the market to allow you to do that," he said.

A recent Timico survey of small businesses found that 72 per cent of respondents voiced concerns about staff bringing in their own devices to work.
