BT has been forced to alter one of its broadband adverts following complaints from Virgin Media.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has upheld two complaints by the company's rival internet service provider regarding publicity for its Infinity internet product.

Virgin Media claimed that the wording of the advert was not representative of the product and its availability.

A third complaint relating to a separate advert for BT broadband was not upheld by the ASA.

"We understand that the ruling clarifies that the ASA wants the fact that BT Infinity is rapidly rolling out, but not yet 'widely available', to be made clearer," said BT in response to the adjudication.

The company added that it sees this as a "minor" issue of clarification and said it would consult further with the ASA in regard to this.

Earlier in the week, data from a uSwitch.com report showed that residents of Leamington Spa enjoy the fastest broadband speeds in the UK.
