VoIP solutions 'can allow businesses to halve their communication costs'

VoIP solutions have been highlighted as a key way for businesses to cut communications costs.

Trefor Davies, council member for the Internet Telephony Service Providers' Association, recently claimed that firms making the switch to this technology can enjoy significant reductions in line rentals.

He went on to note that the majority of VoIP solutions permit free calls to other company sites, which can be especially advantageous for organisations with offices overseas.

"It is not unusual for a business to halve their communications costs by moving to VoIP," Mr Davies said.

However, it was noted that cost is not the only factor to consider when making the switch.

Mr Davies explained that the convenience offered by VoIP systems enables users to take their telephone number with them to different offices.

BT's Openreach division recently announced that its fibre-optic broadband roll-out is proceeding apace, with 113 new locations set to be hooked up to faster connections by autumn 2012.
