Leamington Spa 'boasts fastest broadband speed in the UK'

A new report has found that Leamington Spa boasts the UK's fastest broadband speeds.

Figures from uSwitch.com indicate that England's southern counties are the worst-performing areas of the country in terms of connection quality, boasting 20 of Britain's slowest streets.

However, the nation's worst findings were recorded in Mount Pleasant in Halesworth, Suffolk.

It has a download speed that is 53 times slower than the national average.

Commenting on the report, Ernest Doku, a technology expert with uSwitch.com, claimed that the results highlight the plight of those struggling with low quality broadband.

"While broadband providers have been committed to upgrading broadband infrastructure as a priority, for some areas these improvements can't come soon enough," he explained.

This comes after culture secretary Jeremy Hunt set out plans to deliver faster broadband to internet users in Rutland.
