Staff are vital to data security, business VoIP solutions users warned

Businesses utilising VoIP solutions to enhance their communications are among those who have been issued a warning over data security.

Dinah Greek, news editor for specialist computing magazine Computeractive, recently claimed that companies should look to their employees when considering how best to protect their sensitive information.

While the expert acknowledged technology such as encryption has a role to play, she explained that instilling staff with the right knowledge is a key consideration.

"There has to be a company framework of security put in place that all the employees know about and they need to know what their responsibilities are," Ms Greek said.

It was also suggested that restricting access on the copying and downloading of files could also be of use to businesses.

Her tips follow a recent announcement from Symantec, which recently unveiled its Norton One product, which can unify security systems across a number of compatible machines.
