Broadband 'key in the fast-moving business world'

Broadband is so important in the business world that contracts can be won and lost because of it.

That is according to president of the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Stephen Leckie, who stated that commercial organisations in this part of Scotland face an uphill struggle unless the broadband infrastructure in the region is improved.

He said that while many businesses thrive in the area, that will soon change if competitors in neighbouring locations can boast to potential clients that they have a stronger broadband service to call upon.

"Access to the internet is a key factor in today's fast-moving business world and contracts can be won or lost on the speed and efficiency of communications," Mr Leckie added.

The South of Scotland Alliance was recently established to deliver super-fast broadband to this part of the country.

According to the collective, such a move is necessary if the region is to remain on the right side of the digital divide.
