VoIP solutions 'are pay as you grow'

One of the major benefits of VoIP solutions is that they are operational excellence models rather than capital expenditure, according to one expert.

David Cargill, Internet Telephony Service Providers' Association council member, said that VoIP hardware allows small firms to invest in top-quality technology without spending a significant amount of money.

"We tend to say it's pay as you grow. So for a small company, they can get into what is a very sophisticated phone system for a very small amount of money," he stated.

Another advantage of IP telephony solutions is that businesses are not tied to a certain number of lines per month, as they have their bandwidth and can make one call or 20 should they wish.

Mike Eagle, general manager of the Federation of Communication Services, said recently that cost savings are not the main driver for VoIP uptake, with enhanced flexibility the big advantage of the technology.
