VoIP hardware users 'more aware of the benefits of recycling'

VoIP hardware users are among those who have developed an awareness of the benefits associated with recycling their old gear.

This is according to Jon Butler, creative brand manager for Envirofone, who recently cited the growth of social media and advertising campaigns as two of the main driving forces behind this trend.

He suggested that while awareness has "certainly" risen among UK tech consumers, there is still "a long way to go before the recycling message gets through to everyone".

The industry expert went on to state that the country is currently only recycling "a fraction" of its unused electronic items, although he acknowledged the progress that has been made in the field.

This comes after a recent Gartner report discovered that global IT expenditure in 2011 is set to rise at a greater rate than was initially forecast.

Vice-president of the firm Richard Gordon expressed his surprise at the finding, noting that the recent Japanese tsunami had not dented the pace of spending in the field.
