AVM outlines summer-friendly IP telephony solutions

AVM has taken a fresh look at some of its IP telephony solutions, detailing the ways in which they can help make the most of summer.

Its tips for FRITZ!Box users include the fact that files can be accessed from anywhere using the device - allowing those with a portable computer system to get out into the sunshine.

Remote access is switched off by default, but can be activated and password-protected, with the attached home computer set to 'wake on LAN' so it does not need to be switched on all the time.

The feature offers everything from the ability to stream the home mp3 collection to more business-like capabilities such as the option of checking insurance documents and other such files.

Meanwhile, the FRITZ!Box - which can act as a DECT repeater to extend the range of wireless handsets in a given premises - can also be set up to filter out unwanted calls or direct them to the answerphone.
