Owners of AVM FRITZ!Box equipment outside of Germany can now make use of the manufacturer's FRITZ! Lab service to test updates to the IP telephony solutions and networking equipment before they become a core part of new firmware packages.

The launch of the feature to the international market begins with test downloads for the FRITZ!Box 7390 and 7340, which incorporate parental controls for the home market and a DECT Repeater function.

For people using DECT handsets with the device rather than pure IP telephony solutions, the repeater function should allow multiple FRITZ!Box units to extend the wireless range of the phone.

AVM says: "In FRITZ! Lab, users will discover new features for current AVM products before they're incorporated into regular updates.

"All versions can be downloaded at AVM's service portal."

The testing process also allows FRITZ!Box users to become involved directly in the development pipeline, by sending suggestions and feedback by email to AVM Development.
