Hosted telephony could be one way by which companies can meet the aims of their outsourcing activities.

According to a report from business analyst IDG Enterprise, there are a number of reasons why many companies choose to outsource certain services.

These include the desire to access knowledge the in-house workforce does not currently have (in 52 per cent of cases), cost reduction in half of instances and inconsistent staffing needs for 44 per cent of firms.

Currently, more than a quarter (26 per cent) of processes and functions carried out in global companies are done so through an outsourcing model.

Hosted telephony could be one way to add to this percentage, as 36 per cent of respondents expect to do so in the coming 12 months.

With hosted telephony, companies can receive unified communications services without the need to invest in new infrastructure up-front, helping to modernise while spreading the cost involved in doing so.
