Broadband connections could help deliver training to home staff

Flexible companies could find it is more effective to deliver training resources to their home-based staff over their broadband connections than to ask them to come into the office.

Charlotte Wolff, training editor at online HR training resource XpertHR, says there are numerous benefits to making resources accessible via broadband connections, rather than holding meetings on-site at specific times.

"Busy employees can access the course online when they get a spare moment - and, in some cases, this can be out of normal work hours," she explains.

This ensures the company does not face a productivity hit, while organisations with large numbers of branch offices or home-based staff are not forced to run the same session many times.

For some firms, it is also a chance to make the company induction programme a prerequisite to joining, with new employees asked to complete it before their first day, rather than over the course of their early paid employment.
