Companies that are au fait with tracking search activities - whether from their own employees or outside visitors to their websites - may be reluctant to embrace mobile web access.

However, in a guest post on the Google Inside AdWords blog, Avinash Kaushik says there are just a few clicks required in order to start tracking mobile activity in the same way as regular search success.

"With just a few clicks, you get the joy of call tracking data for your mobile search advertising campaigns," he writes.

Indeed, doing so is so simple that he lists it under the 'toddler phase' of accountability, alongside basic conversion tracking - and before even clickthrough rate and cost per action concerns.

Google AdWords campaigns can be tracked by placing code on the confirmation page, with mobile sites that use HTTP-level security able to be given the capability.

In order to do so, webmasters must add the tracking code between the <card> tags on mobile conversion pages written in WML.
