Polycom, a VoIP solutions specialist, has been honoured with a 2011 International Distance Learning Award by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA).

At its 2011 National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri, the USDLA, which is a non-profit association, recognised those companies which are making a profound difference in terms of the development and delivery of distance learning programs, many of which utilise VoIP hardware.

The award categories include; 21st Century Best Practice, Best Practice for Distance Learning Programming, Excellence in Distance Learning/Teaching, Outstanding Leadership by an Individual, Hall of Fame, and Eagle Awards.

Polycom was awarded the 21st Century Best Practice Award for Distance Learning in the Telepresence - Corporate category for its work in the field of distance learning, involving VoIP phones and video conferencing through its Polycom Special Events program.

"As a premier organisation for the entire distance learning profession, we are honouring Polycom as a leader in the industry," said Dr. John G. Flores, executive director of USDLA.

"Polycom has raised the bar of excellence and we are truly honoured by Polycom contributions to the distance learning industry," he added.
