Mobility trend could buoy IP telephony solutionsPosted 1 year 3 weeks ago in: General VoIP ![]() Telappliant News: 2011-05-03 Rate this article: As more business professionals become aware of the potential to connect their own IT devices to their workplace network, IP telephony solutions could become one way for their handsets to work alongside the on-site systems. Robby Gulri, vice-president of products at data encryption specialist Echoworx, says IT professionals often perceive new devices as simply adding to the list of hardware that must be secured, protected and maintained. However, those in other disciplines - particularly roles such as marketing - are embracing new technologies for their connectivity potential. "With a lot of the evolution of mobile devices and tablets, we just don't know how that's going to impact, especially on corporate infrastructures," Mr Gulri says. One option could be to use IP telephony solutions with in-built encryption to open up the on-site network to a wider array of handsets. Mobile VoIP can allow phones to seamlessly transition from the on-site Wi-Fi connection to their own cordless capabilities, enhancing the roaming abilities of professionals on the move.
