Hosted telephony can make big savings for small businesses

Small businesses are looking to IP telephony solutions in order to reduce their costs, reports TMCnet.

Writing for the online communications and technology community, contributor Beecher Tuttle weighs up the benefits of a hosted voice service and an on-premise solution for small or medium sized business (SMBs).

According to Tuttle, hosted telephony services hold an obvious financial advantage for smaller companies "because they require very minimal startup costs."

A further plus for businesses is that installing a hosted VoIP service would mean the company would only need to purchase VoIP hardware and as the service would be unified this would help reduce spend further.

Using this type of hosted pbx can relieve businesses of the need to maintain or upgrade the system as their business expands as this function would be performed offsite by the provider.

The TMCnet contributor also said that "hosted voice is especially favourable for companies that operate multiple locations, or have travelling or remote workers", suggesting SMBs may be attracted by the increased flexibility offered by this service.
