IP telephony solutions provider snom notes the importance of SIP trunking in supporting VoIP hardware in enterprise environments.

In a post on the snom VoIP Blog, the company claims that the relationship between itself and the technology is "pretty simple".

"SIP trunking brings connectivity to enterprise voice networks - and we make the premier phones for IP-based business telephony," the post explains.

Readers are told of two of the headline figures from a recent Infonetics Research report about IP telephony solutions and unified communications.

They include the forecasted growth in home, small-office home-office and business VoIP contracts to almost $75 billion (£45 billion) by 2015 and the 143 per cent expansion rate in SIP trunking revenues during 2010.

Infonetics' directing analyst for VoIP and IP multimedia subsystems Diane Myers comments: "The VoIP service market weathered the economic turmoil."

She adds that this led to an increase of over 43 per cent in its overall value between 2008 and 2010, led by SIP trunking during a "breakout year" for the technology.
